Cash flow and opening balance

Cash flow shows, period by period, how much comes in, how much goes out, and the resulting balance, combining actual and forecast amounts. For the balance to be correct, enter each bank's Saldo Inicial (Opening balance) in Financeiro › Bancos (Finance › Banks). Then open Financeiro › Fluxo de Caixa (Finance › Cash flow).

Set the opening balance

  1. In the menu, open Financeiro and then Bancos.
  2. Click Novo banco (New bank) or the pencil on an existing bank.
  3. In the Saldo Inicial section, fill in the Valor (R$) (Amount) and the Data de referência (Reference date): the day the bank had that balance.
  4. Save.

Use the day before the first entry you'll record as the reference date. Entries paid or received before that date may trigger a warning in the bank report.

Read the cash flow

  1. Open Financeiro › Fluxo de Caixa.
  2. Choose the period (current month, previous month, 3 or 6 months, or custom dates) and the grouping: Diário (Daily), Semanal (Weekly), or Mensal (Monthly).
  3. Optionally filter by bank, category, client, or project.
  4. Check the Saldo Inicial, Saldo Realizado (Actual balance), and Saldo Projetado (Projected balance) cards, the Evolução do Fluxo de Caixa (Cash flow trend) chart, and the Detalhamento por Período (Breakdown by period) table.

The math is simple: opening balance + inflows − outflows, actual and forecast. The period's opening balance adds the active banks' opening balances to everything already paid or received before the start date. Click Como é calculado (How it's calculated) on the screen to see the full calculation.

Cash or Accrual

  • Visão: Caixa (View: Cash): actual amounts fall in the month they were paid or received; forecasts fall in the due-date month.
  • Visão: Competência (View: Accrual): each entry falls in the accrual month entered on it.

Frequently asked questions

Why do I see an overdue bills warning?

There are forecast entries with a past due date that haven't been marked as paid or received. They still affect the projected balance. Mark them or adjust them in Accounts payable and receivable.

Can I export the cash flow?

Yes, as CSV or PDF, for people with permission to export financial data.
